And this is the best update yet! FRANKIE IS HOME!!!
She is very tired, as we all are, but she is home. A wider search party was assembled for a sweep search of the area on Saturday. Everyone, including several club members met at 10am to scout the area and hopefully flush her out. But this amazing dog was on her way home! She was found running up one of the entry roads by a hunter 10kms from her last known sighting. We are so grateful to have her back home and she hasn’t left Sara’s side since.
Thank you to everyone who has followed along and donated this has been a fabulous outcome, see you on Tuesday Frankie-dog.
Club member Frankie & her human Sara were out hiking the the Ketemaringi Trig Track in the Pureora Forest on Saturday morning (29 July) and unfortunately Frankie hasn’t come out.
Many of you would have seen and met Frankie down at club, she often struts her stuff on the first night and can be seen testing her skills during prize-giving/test nights.
Frankie was running with her hiking pack and long line but got spooked and ran off but didnt come back. She is very well trained with a excellent recall so we think she has been tangled up somewhere. After searching for over 8hrs, and being very wet and cold Sara realised they were both in a fair bit of strife and set off her EPIRB Sara was located by SAR and walked out at 12.30am Sunday morning. Without Frankie.
The clock is ticking to find her and we are throwing all resources at this to get Frankie reunited with Sara.
Sara and Frankie are much loved members of the Waikato Canine Obedience club and we just want to see them both back on the field together as soon as we can.
If anyone is in the area please keep your eyes peeled. Messages can be left at the Timber Trail Lodge in the forest.
We have started a Give a Little page to help Sara with costs associated with getting Frankie home. Specialist Dog search & rescue teams, vet bills and finders rewards what ever she needs.

Unfortunately we still don’t have Frankie home yet, BUT she has been sighted a couple of times, she is just a bit scared and timid at the moment.
Frankie has chewed through her longline, so she is determined to come home to us. She may have been spooked by the storm, but is hopefully hunkered down because it has been super cold out the last few nights.
A message from Sara: Thank you so, so much for all the comments of support and offers of help, we have been absolutely blown away.
Extra thanks to the people who I have never even met who have given their time to go and look for my girl – in particular Richard, George and family who are camping nearby and putting out and monitoring food, Cliff and his dogs, Bruce, Justin from Diego’s and those of you here that have been donating you are all amazing!
Thank you to everyone who has shared my posts, shared ideas and shared suggestions.
We haven’t given up on your Frankie-dog you have too many people cheering you on!!!
The situation is that Frankie has been sighted twice but is very scared so they are struggling to catch her or for her to trust people.
We are coordinating a search party for tomorrow, Saturday 5th August, at 10 am down at Piropiro Camp Site if anyone is interested in joining us. If you are interested, there is more information so please reply to this email and I can include you in the finer details this evening.
A trap was set yesterday with all her home comforts so fingers crossed, she is in there. There is no phone coverage, so the team down there today needs to get back to phone coverage before I am updated. We want Frankie back home and back at the club so if you are free and able, your help would be gratefully appreciated.
If you are interested in join this party please reach out for more details firstname.lastname@example.org
